BIOGRAPHY
Delmar Arnaud, a.k.a. Daz Dillinger, is the younger cousin of Snoop Doggy Dogg, and they both grew up together in Long Beach, California.
Daz was first introduced to the world on the track entitled "Deeeeez Nuts" featured on Dr. Dre's album "The Chronic"(1992), and then on Snoop Doggy Dogg's first solo album "Doggystyle"(1993) on various tracks.
Even though he was a talented rapper, Daz wanted to try his hand at producing. After being shown the studio by Dr. Dre, Daz soon became one of the premiere producers for Death Row Records. Daz and Kurupt The Kingpin, an already famous rapper because of his unique lyrical talent, joined forces to become Tha Dogg Pound. Their album "Dogg Food" was a huge success when it was released in 1995.
When Dr. Dre left Death Row Records in mid-1996 because of creative differences with Suge Knight(the executive producer and co-founder of Death Row Records), it was up to Daz to keep Death Row's unrivalled style the best in the world. He succeeded by helping to produce platinum-selling albums such as 2Pac's "All Eyez On Me"(1996), the first double CD in rap history, and Snoop Doggy Dogg's "Tha Doggfather"(1996). Both Daz and Kurupt then did tracks without each other. Daz also showed his diversity by co-producing The Lady of Rage's album, which was different compared to the usual Daz style.
In 1998, Daz released his debut solo album titled "Retaliation, Revenge and Get Back" which showed the world that Gangsta Rap and Death Row Records wasn't losing its place in the music business. As a result of his hard work and dedication to the label, Death Row Records' CEO Suge Knight made Daz the label's Vice President. He is now working on numerous projects, including work with his group Tha Gang, made up of himself, Soopafly, Tray Deee, and Bad &, a collection of unreleased 2Pac tracks, and a Death Row Records compilation album. The California-bred rapper's third solo album, This Is The Life I Lead, was released June 9. He also said he intends to release a collaboration CD he recorded with the late Tupac Shakur. The slain rapper's estate has attempted to block the album's release through legal channels.
In addition, Daz said that on his Doggy Style debut he would attempt to return to his early '90s style of rapping. But he won't be returning with his estranged early '90s rapping partner Kurupt (aka Young Gotti).
"The new album on Doggy Style will be the sh*t, that old school new flavor, so instead of rapping wit dumb Gotti I'm going to partner up wit my OG rhyme partner Snoop," he said.
Daz and Kurupt fell out recently over Kurupt's renewed affiliation with Death Row founder Suge Knight. Although Daz was the last original Row artist to leave the label, he has no current affiliation with Knight.
